Further progress: the doors are scratch built including the hinges; the roof is now covered with Redutex 'slate' sheeting - great stuff!
A helicopter view at sun-up with the staff contemplating the day
A view from ground level. The staff member has been painted by a "war-gamer" far better than I can do!
The completed engine shed viewed from the rear of the layout
The engine shed from the front
The roof of the engine shed with water tank filled with "water".
The first part of the layout to be 'scenic'd' was the building of the raod bridge. Here is the shell built using styrene over a ply carcase. Note: the signals have no ladders!
Looking down the length of the layout from the fiddle yard end. The embankment is covered in fly-wire awaiting the addition of undergrowth, trees, etc.
The main lines disappear under the road bridge to the fiddle yard. A mock-up of the engine shed is in place.
A further view with one of the control panels visible. There is one on each side of the layout so that operations can take place from the front or the rear.
Adjacent to the Uley Junction terminus are some workshops and industrial stores. The mock-up signal box sits behind the Collett Goods.
The road bridge a little later during the build
The developing view down the elngth of the layout with the backscene in place
Ladders installed on the signals and being serviced...
A view from the left-front of the layout
The shell of the engine under construction using styrene
The train turntable. Note the use of a tunnel at this stage - replaced with a road bridge...
