Over all view of the busy street scenes. The layout was constructed mostly for the street scenes. As an ex petrol tanker driver in the UK I have leaned towards petrol deliveries to garages and have built an oil terminal. The terminal is owned by ESSO, common practice was to sell petrol to other companies so FINA, and Regent are waiting to load. Other brands, however, would never be allowed to deliver to a competitor’s garage. The Regent tanker by the garage is having a safety inspection prior to being allowed to load. Petrol reg’s were keenly observed especially if any bare wires were visible!
Scrap yard with two dirty British steel eight wheelers picking up scrap for their furnaces.
Found this old Cadillac but I was unable to find the wheels so it’s on blocks being restored.
Delivering fuel, passing mate has decided to call in for a coffee, life was much slower in the mid 1950’s
Mate is helping to guide the Scammel driver to the underground storage tanks. The tank lids are just visible, always on the nearside of the tanker. Bad accident at the junction typical Ford drivers!
Sheffield bus station with a couple of Barnsley buses visiting.
Builders supply merchant receiving his Blue Circle Cement order. London Bricks delivering other side of house/ office. Note the ex postal van with the letters painted out in gloss red contrasting with the faded paint work.
Ashby’s café, must be good food judging by the amount of parked lorries. I try to offer static scenes where possible hate to see cars or people mid pose whilst the trains wiz past.
Busy scene at the National Benzole garage, petrol delivery and Dunlop sales rep together. The garage is a Wills Barn kit hence the name “Barn Garage”
Again, a busy scene at the National Benzole garage, petrol delivery and Dunlop sales rep together. The garage is a Wills Barn kit hence the name “Barn Garage”
School days, one young lad getting a telling off! School is an old German Falla station.
Busy day at the ESSO oil terminal. Must be a Sunday or late evening.
Happy holidays caravan park. Land rover just arriving, don’t know where his van will fit.
New development built behind the old school house playground around 1940 after the new school opposite was built. The occupants of the old school were not happy, but the council won, as usual.
Showing the terrace at the rear - not enough land so had to build out.
A converted oxford diecast model of a Ford van painted to represent a fitters work van for repairs to the buses. The transfer is from Fox Transfers UK and cost more than the van!
3 new shops taking up part of the timber yard - running out of land...
